CDE Approved Statement for Consent to use SSN
"Social Security Approval: This is for collecting voluntary SSNs from students to share with EDD. The Employment Development Department is the state agency responsible for maintaining personally identifiable information, and keeps all information confidential it receives from the California Department of Education for use only to track the labor market outcomes of adult education program participants in compliance with all applicable state and federal laws and mandates."
We recommend updating your Reg Form to allow students to consent to SSN approval. Go to Set Up/Registration Forms. Choose the Reg Form of your choice then scroll down to Demographic Info and find PBA Signed. Click on the label PBA Signed then find the Edit label area. Copy and paste the CAEP Social Security Approval statement (see paragraph above) for SSN into the Edit label area to replace PBA Signed.
After completing the copy/paste of the Social Security Approval statement, click Update.
When students sign up for classes from your school's ASAP online registration site, they will be able to respond to the Social Security Approval question.
